(1)  English Writing:
This course offers intensive training on basic writing skills to facilitate the trainees' need for both English writing and  Chinese-English translation. Writing skills covered will include, among others, the writing process, essay structure and composition techniques, paragraph structure and compositing techniques, types of English sentences and their usages, and diction. This course will be conducted alternatingly in lectures, student practices, and classroom discussions. 
（2）English-Chinese Translation Fundamentals & Techniques :
（3）Chinese-English Translation Fundamentals & Techniques :
These courses introduce a series of effective techniques widely applied in English-Chinese / Chinese-English translation, including conversion, affirmation, negation, and others. The practice starts on vocabulary and progresses towards sentence and paragraph translation. Special attention is given to words, sentences and paragraphs that have Chinese and English cultural and linguistic features. The fundamentals of translation theory will be discussed, but the emphasis is on application. Comments and coaching will be given to the students when they practice translation.
（4）Introduction to Interpretation :
The course offers skills training in two-way interpretation at medium level. The practice starts from sentence-by-sentence interpretation and advances towards consecutive interpretation. The basic nature, types and frequently used skills in interpretation will be discussed and demonstrated.  Learners will be coached in practice so that they can master some of the fundamental skills used in interpretation.

These courses discuss such issues in translation as genres, style, rhetoric devices and cultural messages.  The translation task is more demanding, with more varieties of genres and higher expectations of the language.
（7）Practical I - Translation for Literature, Technology, Business :
This course caters for the "Semi-Specialised Translation" module, second of the 3 examinations required for the Diploma in Translation offered by the Institute of Linguists Educational Trust of Great Britain. Recent test papers will be used to discuss the techniques in translating the texts in the three fields of literature, technology and business. Comments and coaching will be provided to the students when they practise translation. 
（8）Practical II – Translation for Science, Social Science, Law :
The course caters for the "Semi-Specialised Translation" module, third of the 3 examinations required for the Diploma in Translation offered by the Institute of Linguists Educational Trust of the Great Britain. Recent test papers will be used to discuss the techniques in translating the texts in the three fields of science, social science and law. Comments and coaching will be provided to the students when they practise translation.
